Hello Jam community!

You’ve not heard from the Jam for a while, and we are sorry. It’s been a hard year for many, including the volunteers who run the Jam HQ. And we have had some hard thinking to do.

Although things are getting better in many places, COVID and its restrictions are still here.  So we have thought hard, had some conversations with Jammers, and looked at the options. This is the plan for the Global Service Jam in 2021.

As last year, we will split the Jam. It will be spread over two main dates:

CLASSIC WEEKEND: weekend of the 12th of March 2021.  

_ Formats: intense online or offline Jams of up to 48 hours in length.

_ Earliest Theme release: 18:30 (6.30 pm), your local time on Friday 12 March*.

_ Upload Deadline: 15:00 (3 pm) your local time on Sunday 14 March.

BIG JAM WEEK: 16-20 June 2021.

_ Formats: online or offline Jams in various formats. Jams can fit inside 48 hours, or can be more relaxed and spread through the week.

_ Earliest Theme release: 09:00 , your local time on Wednesday 16 June*.

_ Upload Deadline: 15:00 (3 pm) your local time on Sunday 20 June.

*Jams in countries with other weekends – like many Muslim countries and Israel – can, as always, Jam one day earlier. Please contact us if you are interested.

So, we are not back to Jam-normal. But we think this is the best way to have as many people able to Jam as possible, while keeping a good Jam feeling for us all.
